‘We all have an equal right to water.’
I’ve included this because, while it’s old it pulled like the proverbial train and crucially, didn’t victimise its subjects. Thankfully, the fundraising sector has finally woken up to the issue of white saviourism, but there are still conversations to be had if we’re going to do better. I’m not perfect. But I am prepared to be uncomfortable and to listen and learn. I’m also a great believer in the power of positive stories; handled properly, they can still speak clearly of need and ensure the donations flood in.
