The UK Intellectual Property Office; Cracking Ideas
Key thought:
‘What would Gromit do?’
I was approached by Bell Design to write the launch website for Cracking Ideas; an online initiative from the UK IPO (formerly the Patent Office) designed to promote innovation among children in the final two years of primary school. This was supported by Aardman Animations and fronted by Wallace and Gromit. I researched and wrote the copy, including features on the world’s top ten innovators and innovations, and some of the crackpot ideas that were patented but never produced (chicken goggles anyone?). I also devised and wrote the Fun things to do at home with Mum and Dad pages, polished the curriculum-linked work schemes, and wrote the teaser, launch and follow-up emails promoting the campaign to teachers. This campaign was hugely successful, with an 8% take-up rate compared to an expectation of 1.5%.
Assets created:
Research, copy and activity generation for the first Cracking Ideas website.
